Biography
Md Yeamun Hasan Soumick is a GIS and remote sensing enthusiast with a background in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of Rajshahi. He has professional experience as a Youth-led Research Fellow (SKS Foundation, supported by GFFO, Save the Children, and RIMES), GIS Instructor at StatX, and contributor to Open Mapping GURU, where he leads humanitarian mapping and geospatial initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region. His work focuses on disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, and spatial data analysis using tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and Python.
He has contributed to research on flood early warning systems, cyclone shelter mapping, and environmental change, with publications in the Bangladesh Maritime Journal and presentations at international conferences. Alongside his technical expertise, he actively leads student development initiatives as President of the Rajshahi University Higher Study Club and is deeply involved in global humanitarian mapping communities.
